Kilimanjaro is one of the world’s most accessible high summits a beacon for visitors from around the world.
Here lies the picturesque pink soda lakes on which breed millions of flamingoes, breathtaking golden savannahs teeming with wildebeest, zebra, antelopes and their predators, and imperious volcanoes, one of which, the Ngorongoro, a UNESCO Conservation Area, International Biosphere Reserve, and site of Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest intact volcanic caldera.
Tanzania daunting natural variety is mirrored by a cultural diversity embracing 120 distinct tribes from the iconic Maasai pastoralist of the Rift valley to the Arab – Influenced Swahili of the coast, to the hadzabe hunter – gatherers of Lake Eyasi.
Tanzania’s biggest annual event begin at the Serengeti national park near the Kenya border when a million wildebeest – each one driven by the same ancient rhythmic, fulfilling its instinctive role in the inescapable cycle of life; A frenzied three – week bout of territorial conquest and mating; survival of the fittest as 25 smiles long columns plunge through crocodile – infested waters on the annual exodus north; replenishing the species is a brief population explosion that produces more than 8000 calves daily before the 600 miles pilgrimage begins again. Starting in may each year more than a million of these animals migrate across the Serengeti southern plains accompanied by Africa’s great predators, Zebras, Antelopes, and Gazelles etc.
The spectacles of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden – manned lion feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees living the sermera river, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southern plain, a long side the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat.
